CDC Prepares for Ensuing Zombie Apocalypse
Everyone knows that the Rapture is just a few days away. But what all the religious experts have failed to mention is the zombie apocalypse that will ensue once the righteous have departed our soil.
Fortunately, the heathens at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have a list of things that you need to plan on having in case your next door neighbor develops a craving for your brains. The CDC suggests creating your own emergency plans, as well as provides a list of the necessary supplies that will you need for this or most any other emergency, for that matter.
We noticed that the list was grievously absent of a baseball or cricket bat, a shovel and a 12-gauge shotgun. What other vital supplies are they missing?
If you've let one get close enough to you to the point where a chainsaw is going to be remotely useful, you're better off with a katana or some other light weight, quick-action hand weapon. Chainsaw is too heavy, too bulky, and takes too long to pull start. By the time you get it cranked over, you're salivating over grey matter...not that I've given this any thought. Yes, because Metro management cares about zombies. It is not surprising when you see how many zombies are among their ranks. Of course, this will be another waste of funds because zombies don't respond well to verbal instruction. Only decapitation really hurts them, and very few zombie-bus collisions result in decapitation. It's a shame, really, when you think of how many bag searches the Metro Police could do with that money. Gotta go with Austin on this one - too many downsides to a flamethrower. The flaming zombie, even if slowed, is much more likely to set something else on fire (or you are, in your willy-nilly area-defense) which would limit your options in the event you need to escape. Plus its heavy as fuck. I'd rather take the weight in a shotty and a heap of 12 gauge ammo.If I need an area effect, an M203 and some grenades preferrably launched from a safe distance. If I need "area effect" at flamethrower range, I've already done something horribly wrong and deserve to die.

I love my deck...oh wait...
Have I mentioned that I love my deck? I do. If you follow me on twitter I talk about it too much.
My kids would probably say, "If you love it so much why don't you marry it?" (If they had been me and my cousins when I was little). I might. That's how much I love it.
But that's not what I'm writing about. I'm writing about a Very Fancy Rain Gauge (that sits out on my super awesome deck). See picture above. Upper right. Yes, I said Fancy. It's Very Fancy.
We've had a lot of rain. Emma decided it was time to stop talking about how much rain and measure it. As you can see from our Very Fancy Rain Gauge we've had 2 1/2 inches since Sunday...or was it Monday?
Want to make your own Very Fancy Rain Gauge?
1. Find a used up water bottle.
2. Cut off the top.
3. Use a ruler and make one inch tick marks starting from the bottom. Mark 1", 2", etc. (As you can see we thought we were in for at least 8 more inches overnight...that's how much rain we've been having.)
4. Put it on your awesome deck (or another fave place) and let it rain.
