Pasco inmate dies days after jail fight
An inmate died after being removed from life support days after a fight with another inmate at the Pasco County Jail.Authorities say 36-year-old Christopher Koenig died Thursday.
Koenig's ex-wife, Shawna Koenig, says he hit his head on a metal bunk then the concrete floor during the fight that started about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. She told the St. Petersburg Times Koenig wasn't taken to the hospital until the next morning.
Pasco County Sheriff's officials say Koenig was taken to the hospital around 4 a.m. Sunday after exhibiting signs of injury.
Officials say Koenig had a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain.
Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll says 28-year-old David Fink has been charged with aggravated battery in the fight. He said the State Attorney's Office could increase the charges.
